Exploring Tarifa: The Southernmost Town of Europe
In May 2022, we spent 5 days in Tarifa, in Spain, the southernmost town of Europe, where the Mediterranean kisses the Atlantic. Known as the windiest town in Europe, it’s a true paradise for kitesurf lovers. The sky was constantly dotted with colorful kites!

The Charm of Tarifa’s Old Town
But Tarifa isn’t just about wind and waves. I fell in love with the charm of the old town—narrow cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses framed by bright bougainvillea, and hidden tapas bars tucked into cozy corners. Hidden among these charming alleys, we discovered cozy tapas bars serving authentic Spanish flavors. And let me just say—we had the best tuna of our lives at a local restaurant!

Things to Do in Tarifa Beyond Kitesurfing
✔ Wander through the old town – A mix of Andalusian and Moorish influences
✔ Relax on the beaches – Playa de Los Lances is stunning
✔ Enjoy fresh seafood – Especially red tuna (atún rojo), a local specialty
✔ Watch the sunset from Castillo de Guzmán el Bueno – A fortress with panoramic views

A Day Trip to Morocco – From Tarifa to Tangier
One of the highlights was taking the ferry from Tarifa to Tangier, Morocco. It’s surreal how just an hour across the water can transport you to an entirely different world, filled with vibrant markets, rich scents of spices, and bustling streets. From Tangier, we continued to the magical blue town of Chefchaouen for a one-night stay.
